If you are one of the larger retailers, you will probably be aware that many of your suppliers are using NutriCalc® (see our Customers include list).
So useful for so many applications....
You may be interested in obtaining a licence for the software for NPD or so that you can create nutrition information, front-of-pack and reference intake figures for recipes for your customers, on recipe cards, in magazines etc. You can also use NutriCalc to make checks on the information your suppliers are putting on their labels.
You will also be aware that the Food Information Regulation requires compliance for nutrition information by December 13, 2016.
Did you know that the EU1169/2011 regulation may not affect you?....
If you are a smaller retailer, and what you sell is non-packaged products made by food manufacturers, along with a few ‘baked in store’ products and bought-in bakery products, you do not need to do anything at all except ensure that all product labels, including imported products, have nutrition information on them. If they don’t, you will need to go back to the supplier and ensure that they are putting nutrition information onto their labels.
If you make products yourself such as cakes, cookies, jams etc. to sell in your local store, again, you do not have to label your products unless you ask a third party to sell things for you. However, consumers are now looking and expecting to find nutrition on the packaging of foods that they buy and this is something you may like to consider doing even though you do not yet need to by law. Having made a decision to do this though, there are ways of doing this that you must comply with.
Don't worry if you do though because NutriCalc can make the job so much easier for you
Using NutriCalc®, this is something that need not cause you any problems or difficulties.
If you are comfortable using a computer, using the software should be very straightforward and easy for you, simply being a matter of familiarising yourself just like using any new tool. The software will make calculations based on the recipe that you put in, in a format suitable for your labels, and will also give you ingredient declarations, along with a 5 a day calculation, front-of-pack and reference intake information. If you wish, you can add typical portion sizes as well as per 100g/ml.
DIY or YDI? We can either 'hold your hand' while you do it, or do it for you.....
